Douglas Thompson won the Grolsch/Glasgow Herald "Question of Style" Award for new writing in 1989, and since then has published short stories in The Herald, West Coast Magazine, Northwords, Chapman, The Drouth, Dreamcatcher, Random Acts Of Writing (R.A.W), Dark Horizons, New Writing Scotland, & Ambit.

He won 2nd prize in the Neil Gunn Writing Competition 2007, for an extract from a novel in progress about The Brahan Seer, Coinneach Odhar (Scotland's Nostradamus), called "Freasdal" which will be published by Acair Press in 2014.

The central chapter of his first novel "Ultrameta" was published in Summer 2006 in Chapman Magazine, issue no.108, where the Editor Joy Hendry described it as a "fascinating surrealistic meditation... that both entrances and perplexes..."

He lives in Glasgow, where he has worked as an architect, interior designer, and computer artist.

Douglas' work can be found in "New Writing Scotland 26: Bucket Of Frogs" and in The Elastic Press Anthology of Slipstream Fiction "Subtle Edens",New Horizons, Dream Catcher, Ambit, Albedo One, and PS Publishing's Catastrophia Anthology (alongside Brian Aldiss and Adam Roberts).
